Week of 19 Oct 2026: NTU picks Wee Hur for a 1,398-bed PBSA; The Assembly Place sets a 10,000-key target

Published 19 Oct 2026 by the SEA Living Desk team

Two Singapore stories lead this week's refresh. A public university has handed a student-housing project to a listed developer, and a listed co-living operator has published fresh portfolio figures and a 2030 target. The tracker now holds 62 source-linked records across six markets.

Y Suites NTU Singapore (Singapore, PBSA)

Nanyang Technological University has issued a Letter of Award to SGX-listed Wee Hur Holdings to design, build, finance and operate a 1,398-bed purpose-built student accommodation project on a 20-year land lease. Construction is slated to start in Q3 2027, with opening targeted for the 2029/30 academic year. It is Wee Hur's first student-housing project in Singapore; the group already runs student housing under its Y Suites brand in Sydney, Adelaide and Canberra, according to its website. The award suggests Singapore universities are open to private capital for on-campus beds, a model already common in Australia and the UK.

Updated records

The Assembly Place (Singapore, Co-living)

We have replaced our earlier estimate of about 1,087 rooms (SGX Living Sector Primer, June 2025) with the company's own figure: 3,520 keys across 103 properties as at 30 June 2026. The Assembly Place, listed on SGX Catalist, now targets 10,000 keys by 2030 and reports a secured pipeline of 2,100 keys. It is also widening beyond co-living into student, senior and healthcare-worker housing, which puts it in competition with dedicated PBSA operators.
